Ugh October and the cold & rain...10/29/09

Ugh October…

So yesterday (Thursday) totally felt like one of those boring yucky rainy days Bella describes in Twilight about Forks; which by the way I am so excited about the fact that I can now see New Moon previews on TV and it comes out next month, and yes I have already purchased my tickets and received a free itunes download off of the soundtrack. Whoo hoo. Anyway I woke up that morning at 6:30am to get ready for work and was quickly reminded of the random dream I had…

In my dream my sister and I were at a grocery store (which BTW is weird considering the fact that we don’t speak although I wish we were). We were having a good time and planning to cook a meal together so we went shopping for the food. During our grocery shopping I began to have pretty severe pains in my stomach. I remember I clenched it and asked her to follow me to the restroom. Once I got inside the restroom I sat on the toilet and began to push and next thing I know there is a placenta in the toilet with a baby inside. I knew at this point I had a miscarriage and that it was the most painful experience, and heart breaking experience of my life. I also knew in my dream that I did Not know that I was pregnant, so it was all a shock to the both of us. I do know that my sister, Amber, was there and comforting me and I could feel so much love between us. Now this is something that I don’t obviously feel now, but it is something that I desire and pray happens some day.

So anyway after my puzzled dream I began to get ready for work. When I left the house to drop the kids off at school it definitely looked liked a day in Forks outside haha. When I got to work it was raining hard and this is something I now hear more than ever in my new spot at work. My goal at this point was to not fall over asleep. See since my week has been busy and I haven’t gotten much sleep, and it’s now cold and raining I felt as if I was about to pass out, and we all know we can’t do this at work. So basically my day was boring. I didn’t have a lot going on and I was fighting exhaustion. After work I went to go tan and fell asleep in the tanning bed, which I love to do, it relaxes me immensely. Then I went to pick up my precious babies and it was off to the house for our normally Thursday night. Clean house. Do laundry. Watch Parks and Recreations, The Office, & The Mentalist. All my shows were great and I laughed out loud several times. After that I paid some bills and balanced the check book and ordered my book for my next class…Composition I. Thankfully though my first assignment isn’t due until the 1st, so I just read all the class announcements, etc. and went to sleep around 11:30pm.

End of Trial & Jury Duty- 10/28/09

Wednesday. So I am back in court this time at 9am (thank you Jesus)!

So I arrive at court and I already know my decision for the case. Guilty. I go into the jurors’ room and two more of the jurors are already inside and someone at the court house was kind enough to bring in donuts. Thanks, even though I didn’t eat any. As we sit around and wait for the others to arrive I am starting to feel kind of bad for being some what responsible for punishing a man who is struggling with an obvious addiction, but someone has to do it before someone dies, right? This makes me also realize that we are all created differently, and all have different callings from Heaven, and there is a reason why. I then began to ask God for peace and sure enough it is granted. He began to tell me that we still have to obey the law and when we don’t we have to pay the price, and that I was doing the right thing. It’s amazing to me how God puts certain people in certain places and just the right time.

So after everyone arrives the bailiff takes us back into the court room where two attorneys’, judge, and defendant are. (BTW I can not remember the name of the state attorney for the life of me, but he looked just like Christopher Rives in the older Superman movies and he had piercing baby blue eyes, so I kept thinking about Superman and hearing the theme song playing in my head. Haha random I know…) And then we hearing the closing statements. After this we all go into the juror’s room to deliberate. Once we got inside I wasn’t too surprised to see that all of us but one other was on the same page. After talking to this person we were able to have her change her vote. She was kind of 50/50 about it anyway so it wasn’t too hard. After this we notified them we were ready and then we entered back into the room. That’s when it got a little hard again. I just didn’t want to see the man’s face when they said Guilty, so I didn’t look. I don’t think he was surprised though.

So after the trial the attorney’s and judge went into the jurors’ room with us and said we made the right choice because they weren’t allowed to say it at the time but this wasn’t his first DWI, and they are more than convinced that he was intoxicated. So this also made me feel that much better. I thought it was kind of cool that they came in after wards and sat around eating donuts with us and talked about the case and answered any questions we had. I definitely enjoyed the experience and wouldn’t mind doing it again…well as long as the case is somewhere along those lines and not something that would make me cry or totally freak out.

After we were done in there I went back to work and to the normally grind. Sad I know. Work was nothing knew just playing catch up since I hadn’t been in since last Friday. Left at 4:30 and went home to get my babies. Since my week had been busy and crazy natural when I got to their after school provider I came to realize that it was the night of the Fall Festival, so I had to run home and get them ready for this. We went back up there at 7pm for food and games and won a cake on the cake walk. Oh and it was cherry cheesecake my absolute fav! Got back in around 8:30pm, got the kids in the shower and into bed. After that I stayed up talking to my good friend Paige (who is going through some new life experiences) and checked my email(s) since it had been forever. Upon that I discovered that the cell phone I have been wanting was on sale, so I went ahead and ordered it. Yeah! Then I went to bed around 11pm again.

Jury Duty- 10/27/09

So now it’s Tuesday and I have to be up early for another event. This time it’s Jury Duty. Yeah me!!! I got to the Decatur court house around 8am and was sure enough selected for the trial (which was a DWI case). I found this quite ironic since I am going to school for Psychology in substance abuse and have many addicts in my family/life, and I just want to help them. So none the less I was not surprised that I was selected for the case, and I was actually kind of excited about it. After I was selected they gathered us 6 in the court room to begin. So all day long we listened to each sides of the case and then breaked for the night a little after 5pm.

The case was about this 61 year old man who was going down 380 (which has been under construction for a long time). He lives in the area so it wasn’t like he didn’t know, but he was arguing that the day it switched over to a one way lane he thought it was still two lanes, so he went down it about a mile and a half going the wrong way (there was signs posted everywhere that it was a one way) and smacked into the back of a huge construction vehicle (the ones that scrap the reflectors off of the road). He was doing 55 and the truck was doing 1 mph. He never breaked or slowed down just ran in to it. This lane was also closed due to the construction, but he didn’t pay attention to those signs either, so the cop suspected he was intoxicated. When the cop went over to check on him he asked to check his eyes (since he could have had a head injury) and he said you can check my eyes but nothing else. When the cop asked him what he meant he said sobriety tests. The cops said I didn’t say anything about you being intoxicated so why would you say that, and he said his lawyer told him too…hmm right. So anyway he refused to take any test to prove if he was or wasn’t intoxicated and the cops didn’t have any evidence he was other than he smelled off it and he was stumbling around and when they did the eye test its results was that he was intoxicated. The cop didn’t have the camera pointed at him either, so we only saw this guy in the video for about 15 seconds. What got me was that he didn’t seem upset/scared/concerned just defensive and aggressive, and when his wife arrived she said “give me your cell phone and belt because you know they are going to take it away”…well how would they know that if they haven’t been down this path before??

They then asked us to come back the next morning at 9am to hear the closing statements and make are decision. So on my way home I began to really think about the case and how it’s scary to think about all the people who get selected for this and don’t care which way they swing. I on the other hand wanted to make the right decision. I would hate to make an innocent person guilty or put a criminal back on the streets.


So none the less after hearing all this and praying about it I was most certain the man was guilty. Now did I want him to be…of course not! I wanted to run over there to him and hug him and tell him that it’s not too late for him. He can still turn his life around and tell him all the wonderful things my Father in Heaven has done for me and that he wants to do the same for him. I was so sadden by the fact that he also was alone in court. No wife…no family…so of course this struck home for me with my father in all.

So right now my prayer is for his salvation and deliverance!

Get Motivated- 10/26/09

So I am new to this blogging thing and since it’s now Thursday I will just start this from the beginning of my week, which was October 26, 2009.

So Monday was a fun day. My job sent me to the Get Motivated seminar at the Forth Worth Convention Center and it was truly amazing and inspiring. I am surprised I got as much fun and excitement out of it as I did considering I love my sleep and I hardly got any that day. I normally get up every day for work around 6:30am and for this I had to be up at 4:30am and I didn’t go to bed that night until 11 or so.

Anywho the seminar was amazing. Tamara Lowe was amazing and I totally didn’t expect her to be…well the way she was. Not to mention the best part of it all was the fact that after lunch KJ-52 preformed and he was awesome and right after him former President George Bush came out! How cool is that?? Seriously I love Bush and no matter what anyone says I still think he did the best he could have and he was an amazing speaker as well.

So many of the other speakers were funny as well, which really helped me. Like Terry Bradshaw…wow that guy is something else. He came out after Bush and after his round of applause he said “thanks everyone I haven’t had a round of applause like that since my honeymoon night”…wow haha. Then he said “wow I am so good they had President Bush open the show for me”. All I have to say is…Terry you wish haha.

After the seminar let out after 5pm it was around 7:30pm before I got home. After getting my kids in to bed and everything done for the following day it was around 10:30pm, so I crashed. This brings me to the next day which was Tuesday…
